A Houston ZIP code ranked among the U.S. neighborhoods with the most luxury home sales this past fiscal year.
Houston's ZIP code 77024 had 24 homes sell for more than one million dollars between the first quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013. The area includes Hunters Creek, Bunker Hill Village, Piney Point Village and Hedwig Village.
The 24 sales in the ZIP code ranked it 22nd in the nation, far from San Francisco's Burlingame neighborhood, which was No. 1 with 474 million-dollar home sales over the same time span.
Two other Texas markets also ranked highly, the Preston Center neighborhood in Dallas had 175 and Austin's West Lake Hills had 121.
The report says luxury home sales are surging as the economy improves. According to reports, luxury sales grew by 34 percent between the first quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013. The number of million-dollar sales is also at a six-year high. The overall real estate market grew a measly 5 percent.
